"When A Parent Has Cancer is a book for families written from the heart of experience. A mother, physician, and cancer survivor, Dr Wendy Harpham offers clear, direct, and sympathetic advice for parents challenged with the task of raising normal, healthy children while they struggle with a potentially life–threatening disease." Amazon description.
The last edition of this book was 2004 and I STILL recommend this book often to families. Dr Harpham addresses dealing with the diagnosis thru treatment, living with chronic cancer and yes, preparing families for how to talk with their kids/teens about living with uncertainty and pending death.
The author includes a companion book for children called Becky and the Worry Cup which is written at a "third grade level". She includes a chapter on how to use this book with children.
Just a heads up that I have seen a problem noted on amazon in the reviews that some people are not receiving the companion book.
