Trauma is knotted with grief. Dr Wolfelt's book Reframing PTSD as Traumatic Grief brings to light how PTSD can be seen as Traumatic Grief. It is a more "holistic and de-pathologized model" for treatment.

He reviews types of traumatic loss and the criteria for PTSD, then compares the symptoms of PTSD to "normal" grief and suggests traumatic grief. He focuses on the importance of companioning to care for traumatized grievers.
